About Keith Michael
Based in the Texas Hill Country, Keith Michael was raised in the tradition of small-town Texas life. Music was always present in the home, and healthy dose of classic rock from his father and country from his mother made for a variety of influences onto his musical palette. Leaving the comfort and security of his hometown at 18, Keith indulged in satisfying a strong sense of wanderlust that pulled him around the country. Coast to coast and all the way up to the northern American border, he explored his freedom, as well as his senses, all in a search for direction that would ultimately come in the form of playing music. In the years that followed, no audience was too small or too far away. Before long, Keith had built a reputation along his circuit as a talented and hardworking songwriter.
At times upbeat and lighthearted, other times deep and introspective, Keith Michael's music encompasses a full range of emotions, and provides a glimpse into the psyche of an artist consumed with exploring the truth of his own experience. But that's just Keith - the ability to rip and roar when times are good, and the willingness to dive deep and search his soul when the light goes dim - and through his music, he'll take you along for the ride.

Easy Come, Easy Go - Single Release Tour
For Immediate Release: Keith Michael releases “Easy Come, Easy Go,” coinciding with his upcoming fall tour. The song was recorded at Todd Snider’s Purple Building Studio in Nashville, TN.
“Music is medicine. I feel unwilling to compromise that aspect of it. I write and perform because it makes me free.”
(Austin, TX - August 14, 2026) Austin based Singer Songwriter Keith Michael releases his new single “Easy Come, Easy Go” - a playfully heartfelt acoustic led track recorded at beloved Americana staple Todd Snider’s own Purple Studios in Nashville. “Easy Come, Easy Go” is the result of an unexpected artistic connection between Michael and Todd Snider himself, just before Snider’s untimely passing. The new song marks the beginning of Michael’s next U.S. tour and an upcoming album release comprised of songs created during the Purple Studios sessions.
Keith’s early love of music started with the intersection of his father's classic rock collection and his mother's country records, from there his musical discovery and urge to play grew. At 18, he decided to travel the country and find his own voice as a lyricist, singer and guitarist. His music often taps into the uplifting, humorous, thoughtful and soul-searching modes of life’s journey. That journey eventually led him to be a student of Todd Snider’s music. When reflecting on his earliest forays into songwriting, Keith recounted that "Todd's fingerprints have been on my songs for a very long time."
How the making of “Easy Come, Easy Go,” came about:
Two years ago, Keith was introduced to Music Masters Collective, an organization hosting week-long artist retreats in the Catskill Mountains, where fans and musicians share music in intimate settings. When Keith discovered that Todd Snider was hosting a songwriting camp, “What the Folk?,” he applied for a scholarship, forgot about it, and learned nine months later that he was selected. “For me, it felt like a pilgrimage to meet my songwriting hero. Now, 15 years after first hearing his music, the universe opened a pathway for me to spend a week with Todd.” Keith saw Todd at his best—writing, performing, and sharing wisdom. They played songs for each other, and by week’s end, Todd invited Keith to record at his Nashville studio, the Purple Building. Keith talked to Joe Bissiri, who managed the Purple Building, and he penciled Keith in for the session in January 2026. Joe also engineered Todd’s 2021 First Agnostic Church Record, as well as the new High, Lonesome and Then Some record that Todd was debuting at the camp.
At Camp “What the Folk?,” structure gave way to spontaneity, and some of the best moments happened outside of the planned events. During some downtime, Keith teamed up with fellow camp members Max Berman, another songwriter, and Elizabeth Cook to write “Easy Come, Easy Go,” a multi faceted reflection on relationships, lost jobs and not letting setbacks hold back our own paths. Elizabeth provided the perfect opening line: “You can tell me what to do, or you can tell me how to do it, but you can’t tell me both.” The song quickly came together, and the message was about rolling with life’s ups and downs and being willing to walk away from things that do not feel right.
Camp “What the Folk?” was held in September of 2025, and by mid November, Todd had passed on. Keith said, “Slipping off into the great infinite unknown in a way that really only he could pull off. I knew who he wanted me to know through his music. He was, in my opinion, a master at revealing himself through his art. It’s an aspect of his impression on me that I carry with pride and a reverent respect: if you want to know me, just listen to the songs, it’s all there. And I learned how to do it from the best.” Joe called Keith about the January session, and explained that he, and Robbie Crowell (musician and resident musical heavyweight at the Purple) didn’t know what else to do other than pick up and carry on. There was some unfinished business that Todd left behind, and Keith’s studio dates on the calendar somehow ended up in the mix. Joe thought it was important to honor those plans that Todd had been a part of, so in the dead of winter, with a heavy heart, Keith threw some guitars in the back seat of his car and made the drive to Nashville.
“We wrapped up that first day in the studio with a little bit of a plan, talking about the project and how we could potentially go about it. In visiting with Joe, I felt the sense of a kindred spirit. We talked about the shared awareness of the magic that Todd had sprinkled in our lives. We talked about the kismet element of us coming together, how neither one of us could have imagined the circumstances we were now finding ourselves in. We talked about a lot of things, and decided that we should proceed to create with these things in mind. We recorded all day. A full day of me introducing songs to Joe. Just me and my acoustic. One mic, capturing both my voice and vocals. We ran take after take, and Joe did something interesting that I had never experienced in the studio - he let the recorder run. Instead of hitting stop between takes, everything was recorded. Next we brought in Robbie. I’ve played with a lot of bands and I've played with a lot of musicians. One thing that has always sat in the back of my mind is the adage that water finds its own level. Well if that’s true, then playing with Robbie is like surfing a tidal wave…no, it’s not quite like that…it’s like driving a Ferrari when you’re used to a Toyota Camry. Or hopping in the passenger seat of a Blue Angel fighter jet. Not that I’ve ever done any of those things, but yeah, it’s like that. We tracked my vocals and guitar live with his drums, then he overdubbed the rest—mostly in a single take. Between all the joking around, we somehow finished the foundation of an album in just two days. I left with an album in progress and plenty of memories."
In addition to his upcoming tour and album release, Keith released his first album, Authentic, in November 2019, breaking into the Texas music scene with a collection of stories that captured the realities of life as a working musician. He previously played with Etta Place, and they released two albums: Texas Heat in 2022 and the self-titled Etta Place in 2025. Keith has performed at major Texas venues, including The Cactus Cafe, Gruene Hall, and more. He has also performed at festivals, venues, listening rooms, and house concerts in Texas and the U.S. The upcoming tour will take him to Albany, NY, and back to Texas. He has plans to tour the West Coast in spring 2027.
Through vivid descriptions of love lost and found, battling of personal demons, and well-weathered stories of life on the road, Keith bares his soul in a way that is relatable yet distinctly his own.
